A farmhouse is a simple life, and that’s a good thing. While there are many advantages to living in a farmhouse, the downsides can be significant, too.
Pros of living in a farmhouse
1) A lot of space to build on and add to overtime.
2) You might be able to find a house that is perfect for what you need without breaking the bank.
3) Cannot be as expensive as living in an apartment building with neighbors.
4) Good location if your main goal is to raise animals or start a farm.
5) It’s so quiet living in a farmhouse, especially at night when everyone else is sleeping. It really is like living in the middle of nowhere. No annoying other people around all day long.
6) The kitchen is huge and has lots of cabinets and counter space, which is great for cooking and baking. Plus, we get fresh eggs from our friendly chickens every morning. It’s almost like living in a little cottage on our own little farm!
Cons of living in a farmhouse
1) Not always easy to get around. Being out in the country means you can’t count on public transportation or mass transit, so you’ll need to own a vehicle.
2) The best way to access amenities, such as shopping or medical care, will depend on which town you’re in and whether that town has a hospital or clinic. (In some areas, rural towns don’t have many health care options.)
3) If your land isn’t near a town at all, you’ll also need to be able to access utilities and services yourself.
